Given this vast treasure of knowledge on the subject, there was a need of taking an initiative by preparing short courses of various durations for people belonging to different walks of life. The idea behind designing these courses was to equip people with enough of knowledge, insight and information on the Islamic concept of Jihad and peace so that they could not only insulate themselves from extremist tendencies and ideologies but also play their role in spreading Islamic ideals of peace, harmony, tolerance, moderation and love.
The biggest problem facing the world is restoration of peace. To attain this purpose, no institution, university or state came forward to incorporate counter-terrorism and peacemaking as part of curriculum as regular subjects. Acknowledging the urgency and immediacy of the task, Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri decided that Minhaj-ul-Quran International should take up this responsibility in accordance with its intellectual and constructive traditions. To translate this idea into reality, he got the researchers of Farid-i-Millat Research Institute to design Islamic Courses on Peace and Counter-terrorism under his direct supervision. This course has been prepared for five different sets of segments. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri not only supervised the preparation of these courses but also went through each one of them before according his approval. Thus, it goes to the credit of MQI that it added another to its cap by accomplishing this important project. This is a valuable gift from MQI not only for the Muslim world but also the whole civilized world. These courses will go a long way in catering to intellectual needs of different segments of society for restoration of peace and rejection of terrorism.
